Why Choose Hospice of South Georiga?

Hospice of South Georgia began its mission in 1987, as a community based, not-for-profit hospice, supported by a dedicated core of volunteers. To this day, its founding goal, to provide the highest quality end-of-life care to patients and their families, has been upheld.

As more people understand the significant role Hospice of South Georgia can play for people making choices about end-of-life care, we have experienced continued growth in the number of patients and families we serve each year.

We are this area’s recognized leader in Hospice care, and we provide the most comprehensive services available. Our staff represent the most experienced and well-trained professionals in end-of-life care, with over 200 collective years of hospice experience. Many of our registered nurses have obtained a special credential, as a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN).

A strong Bereavement Care Program offers individual and group support to those experiencing grief related to the loss of a loved one. Grief support is available to children, teens, and adults through personal visits, family therapy, support groups, special camps for youth, and community education programs. These services are available to anyone, including those who have been served by Hospice of South Georgia.

Dedicated Volunteers contribute over 3000 hours per year in service to our patients and families.

Our Family Satisfaction Survey Scores exceed the National Average.

Our services include:

  • Skilled Nursing care by Registered Nurses
  • 24 Hour/7 day a week availability of on-call staff
  • Personal care by Certified Nurse Assistants
  • Emotional and Spiritual Support by our Social Workers, Counselors, and Chaplain
  • Assistance with Finances – anyone is served regardless of their ability to pay
  • Grief Support by trained Bereavement Staff
  • Volunteer Support – errands, companionship, respite
  • The recent addition of our own inpatient hospice program, at the Langdale Hospice House, is an expansion of our services.
